(ETH) – Things are starting to escalate dramatically in the Middle East with Syria, Turkey, and Russia. Yesterday we reported on how an emergency meeting was implemented by Turkish president Erdogan after reports indicated that at least 22 Turkish soldiers were killed and many others injured in an alleged airstrike in Syria’s Idlib province that was carried out by Syrian forces.

Now Russia has announced that it is sending two warships armed with cruise missiles to the waters off the Syrian coast and has blamed Turkey for conflict that led to the killing of 33 of its own soldiers in Syria’s Idlib region the previous day.

This comes as Turkey has sent thousands of troops and heavy military hardware into Syria and Erdogan has warned that Turkey will launch a full-scale offensive to repel Syrian forces unless they pull back from Turkish observation posts in the region. Meanwhile, A report from Russian state television claimed that Turkish military specialists in Syria’s Idlib region has used shoulder-fired missiles to try to shoot down Russian and Syrian military aircraft.
