(ETH) – A new sheriff is in town and his name is Joe Biden and his administration has reportedly called for Construction crews building the steel wall along the U.S.-Mexico border to come to a halt after the president delivered a campaign promise and hit “pause” on the Trump administration’s signature infrastructure project.

The report states that this proclamation from Biden rescinded the national emergency declaration that was put in place by former President Donald Trump to divert about $10 billion from the Defense Department accounts toward this barrier, which was reportedly one of the costliest federal infrastructure projects in U.S. history.

The report from newstimes, states that the Biden administration will be launching a full assessment of this project to determine whether its funding sources are legal and whether they can be allocated elsewhere. “It shall be the policy of my Administration that no more American taxpayer dollars be diverted to construct a border wall,” Biden’s proclamation states.

“I am also directing a careful review of all resources appropriated or redirected to construct a southern border wall.” Meanwhile, The Department of Homeland Security has also called for a pause on deportations for the next 100 days, with some exceptions.

Just one of many sweeping changes made by President Joe Biden only hours after taking office, which also includes drawing down the controversial “remain in Mexico” policy and revoking former President Donald Trump’s immigration enforcement actions.  According to CNN, The decision was to “to ensure we have a fair and effective immigration enforcement system focused on protecting national security, border security, and public safety,” according to a DHS news release.
