(ETH) – Move over John MacArthur, you have some company. Pastor Ché Ahn of Harvest Rock Church in Pasadena, California, is another pastor that has decided to stand against California Governor. Gavin Newsom’s strict orders to keep Churches closed as they are deemed “nonessential”.

According to a report from Charisma, Pastor Ahn received a forbidding letter from Pasadena assistant city prosecutor Michael P. Dowd threatening “criminal charges” if he continues to have church. Dowd wrote,

“This letter is to remind you that violations of Orders are criminal in nature. Each day in violation is a separate violation and carries with it a potential punishment of up to one year in jail and a fine for each violation … Your compliance with these orders is not discretionary, it is mandatory.”

Dowd also threatened to arrest the entire congregation, including those who decided to visit the Church while it was open to the public. This report comes as John MacArthur’s Grace Community Church there in California has just received a notice of eviction from the County’s Public Works Department that slapped a 30-day termination notice to the church for a lease agreement for a large portion of the parking lot, which has been in place continuously since 1975 as the legal battle there rages on!
