The Smokies were celebrating Independence Day Wednesday night by wearing patriotic

uniforms and hosting a fireworks celebration at the stadium. The team later tweeted that the previous post was meant to be light-hearted and not meant to offend anyone. Kaepernick has drawn a lot of criticism after a report surfaced claiming the athlete played a role in Nike’s cancellation of a shoe with the Betsy Ross flag on it.
