(Express) – Le Mans, Nantes, Rennes and Cannes also reported effects of the earthquake with struck in the town of Bressuire, near the Loire Valley in western France. The quake hit at about 8.50am local time at a depth of about six miles. It follows a 4.9 magnitude earthquake in Bordeaux in March last year. The “moderate” quake prompted concern across the country, but no damage has been reported so far. France’s national seismic service said the tremor was centered near the town of Bressuire,

located between Angers and La Rochelle in the west of France. Tremors were reported in cities including Le Mans, Nantes, Rennes, and Caen, with residents saying their homes shook with tremors for roughly 15 to 20 seconds. Stephen Hicks of the British Geological Survey tweeted a printout of readings from temporary seismic array 300 miles away in Surrey, southern England, adding: “Looks like all our stations are performing well.” READ MORE
