OPINION (Complex) – Both religion and spirituality have long played crucial roles in the artistic narrative of Kanye West. He put that career-long inspiration at the forefront earlier this month, with the Coachella edition of his Sunday Service experience. It was a live-streamed event that included everything from seemingly genuine moments of reflection to official socks emblazoned with “Jesus Walks.” Now, at least if People’s sources are to be believed, West is said to be considering how to make the Sunday Service series a more permanent fixture by starting his own church.

He believes in the healing powers of music, but also believes that God can step in and heal people’s brokenness and their issues.” The report’s cited source goes on to claim that West “has talked about starting his own church, and what exactly that would be,” though “no official plans” are in development.
