(By Kelly McDonald, Jr) A recent article lamented the closing of another Christian bookstore, Family Christian Stores. The store has been critiqued for not carrying a variety of Christian books, including works in the top 20 of Christian books sold. There are other Christian book stores still going strong, such as Life Way and Eighth Day Bookstore in Wichita, KS.

The closing of Family Christian Stores brings up an important question: Are Christian bookstores becoming a thing of the past? First of all, I must point out that all bookstores are struggling due to online sales. Perhaps Christian stores should offer a greater variety of books, including those with deeper spiritual meaning. One way or the other, changes must occur for Christian bookstores to have a viable future.
