We are receiving breaking news of a powerful Magnitude 7.6 earthquake that has reportedly struck about 535km southeast of the Pacific nation of Vanuatu, triggering a local tsunami warning, the United States Geological Survey is reporting.  This powerful undersea earthquake occurred at 11:26 AM AEST southeast of the Loyalty Islands in the Pacific.

The Pacific Tsunami Warning Centre has issued tsunami warnings for New Caledonia, Vanuatu and Fiji following the earthquake. As of now New Zealand Civil Defence says it’s currently assessing whether there is any tsunami threat to the nation. There is no known tsunami threat to Australia at this time.
