A strong explosion of the Santa Maria volcano occurred on June 17, 2016 at 9:15am, sending a column of ash and gas at 5,000 meters (16.404 ft) above the crater.
The today eruption was accompanied by a strong rumble noise, a shock wave and pyroclastic flows on the east and west flanks of the volcano. Here some impressive pictures. FULL REPORT
