Flight from Houston heading to Phoenix had to turn around due to concerns about the heat on Sunday. United Airlines’ flight 6186 left Houston and made it into New Mexico. Due to heat-related concerns, the plane diverted back to Houston International Airport, Ericka Wilkerson with Sky Harbor International Airport said.

Wilkerson didn’t say it was just this flight and not others. Phoenix saw a high of 118 degrees on Sunday, breaking a record of 115 set nearly 50 years ago, according to the National Weather Service. It tied for the fifth-hottest day ever in Phoenix. READ MORE
