One person was shot dead at a hospital in the suburbs of Little Rock, Arkansas, Wednesday. Authorities said a “person of interest” was in custody after they responded to reports of an active shooter at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Sherwood, part of the Little Rock-based Catholic Health system, Little Rock’s KARK reported.

Police shut down the area around 11 a.m. local time, and a spokesperson for the hospital system said the facility was on lockdown — though at least one hospital employee said they’d been told to evacuate.

Federal agents with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms were on site, as were state and local law enforcement. Sherwood, a town of some 33,000, is five miles northeast of Little Rock. (NYP)
