(OPINION) Todd Starnes – “Sesame Street” has “gone full-on woke” teaching kids how to “dismantle racism” in its new program, “The ABC’s of Racial Literacy,” nationally syndicated radio host Todd Starnes said Wednesday.

“Sesame Street In Communities” introduces two new Muppets, 5-year-old Wes and his father, Elijah, in a short video called “Explaining Race.” The newly introduced black Muppets meet Elmo and they talk about leaves.

“This leaf is red like Elmo’s fur, and this leaf is brown like Wes’s skin,” Elmo says. “Good observation, Elmo,” Elijah said. Then Elmo asks why his skin is brown, which the boy says is because of melanin. “The color of our skin is an important part of who we are, but we should all know that it’s okay that we all look different in so very many ways,” the father explained.

Dr. Jeanette Betancourt, senior vice president of Sesame Workshop explained the show views everything through the lens of a child. “Children are not colorblind—not only do they first notice differences in race in infancy,

but they also start forming their own sense of identity at a very young age,” Betancourt said. Kay Wilson Stallings, the executive vice president of creative and production at Sesame Workshop, said they’ve always stood for diversity, inclusion, equity, and kindness. READ MORE
