(ETH) – A powerful magnitude 7.0 has struck at sea near the Philippines and occurred at a depth of 98.5 km, according to the USGS.

The European Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) pegged the quake at a magnitude of 7.1 with a depth of about 114 km, after having initially reported magnitudes of 7.2 and 6.8.

The quake was reportedly felt by nearby cities and provinces in the region. As of now, it is reported that there is a low likelihood of casualties or damage and no tsunami threat has been issued from the quake.
