(OPINION) ETH – Apple reported several hours of widespread outages across its entire system on Tuesday night, affecting iCloud, the App Store, and Apple TV, among other services and it, is still not clear what the cause was for the disruption, that seems to have begun around 8 pm eastern.

The outages lasted for about 3 hours and were resolved by 11 pm. This comes in the same window as a major hospital that was potentially struck by what may have been one of the largest medical cyberattacks in the history of the United States resorting to some hospitals relying on filing patient information with pen and paper instead of computers.

Also, many Customers with AT&T in South Carolina reported massive phone and internet outages across the entire state impacting the entire state of South Carolina and parts of North Carolina and Georgia.  Law enforcement agencies across the US also reported brief outages of their 911 systems on Monday night, and it was not immediately clear if there was a connection with a major Microsoft system outage.

It is not yet known what may have produced all these outages, disruption, and cyberattacks in such a short time. Was it all coordinated attacks or just coincidence that all these companies all reported these outages and hacks during the same time frame?
