(ETH) – North Korea has reportedly been struck with a magnitude 4.0 earthquake resulting in South Korea being placed on high alert on the border of Seoul.  According to Express, The magnitude 4.0 earthquake struck North Korea’s Gangwon Province, as reported by the South Korean Meteorological Administration.

Reports also indicate that the quake was a natural occurrence and not the result of any missile tests conducted by North Korea. Witnesses have reported that the quake was felt as far south as South Korea’s capital, Seoul.  The European Mediterranean Seismological Centre also indicated the earthquake struck at a depth of 10km. This quake followed a 5.5 that struck off the coast of eastern Japan.
