(ETH) – At least two tornadoes have ripped through near downtown Nashville, Tennessee, and surrounding regions leaving at least twenty five people dead. According to local affiliates in TN, The one tornado that struck near downtown Nashville as caused severe damage and has caused 40 buildings to collapse around the city of Nashville.

The Tennessee Emergency Management Agency confirmed the preliminary death toll to the Associated Press as first-responders search the wreckage for injured people. The twister that struck Nashville reportedly stayed on the ground into Hermitage, about 10 miles east of the city. There is a video that has been posted online that appeared to show a well-defined tornado in eastern Nashville.

The National Weather Service issued two tornado warnings for Putnam County, east of Nashville. The tornadoes were confirmed on radar. WTVF reporter Chris Conte tweeted a video of the newscast announcing that the tornado was hitting the TV station. He went on to tweet photos saying Nashville had taken a “direct hit” and that the downtown was “devastated.”
