(ETH) – A small earthquake reportedly rattled Virginia residents this morning according to the United States Geological Survey.  The 2.7 magnitude earthquake was reported about 5 miles south of Louisa in central Virginia around 5 a.m. Monday morning.

There were over 100 reports from people who felt the earthquake. Most of the reports came from residents in and around the Louisa area but tremors were also reportedly felt in the Culpeper and Richmond areas. A magnitude 5.8 earthquake struck central Virginia in 2011 with the epicenter of the quake being in Mineral, Virginia, which is about 80 miles from the nation’s capital.
