(ETH) – Residents of Northwestern, Tennessee has been rattled by eleven earthquakes in the region since January 7th of the new year. According to a report coming out today, the latest quake was A 2.7-magnitude earthquake struck Tuesday morning.

The quake struck about 5 miles northwest of of Dyersburg at 12:35 a.m., according to the U.S. Geological Survey. Residents near the region near the city of roughly 16,000 told geologists that they felt the earthquake, which was more than 7 miles deep.  Another report indicated that others in Dyer County, about 75 miles northeast of Memphis, reported feeling “weak” shaking, but no damage was reported.

About one hour later farther North, a 1.3-magnitude earthquake hit outside the town of Ridgely. Over the past month, the USGS has indicated a swarm od seismic activity taking place in Tennessee. Eleven quakes have shaken the northwestern part of the state since Jan. 7, according to the USGS. The largest was a 2.5-magnitude earthquake, that struck near Dyersburg and Ridgely last month, according to officials. Earthquakes have also been reported in neighboring states of Arkansas and Missouri, bringing the regional total to 29.
