(Charisma News) As a student of church history and theology, I am amazed at the present revival and or renewal of old heretical views that were already investigated and condemned by the historic, orthodox, universal church. By heretical, in the context of this article—I am referring to teachings that do not align with the clear teachings and accepted belief of Christian orthodoxy taught in Scripture as affirmed by the Bible-believing, historic, orthodox church. If only pastors would study some of the writings of the early church fathers who dealt with such things such as Arianism
(see Athanasius and the Nicaean Creed) Pelagianism (See Augustine and the Council of Carthage) to name a few; there would be less ignorance of our historical, biblical theological development, and people would be less prone to being led away with error. Saint Jude urges us to contend for the faith that was once for all delivered unto the saints (Jude 3), hence, there is a body of biblical doctrine and or truth the apostles referred to as “the faith” that encompasses basic biblical beliefs Christ followers should adhere to. (The apostle Paul also referred to this body of truth as “the pattern of sound words,” the “deposit” and “sound doctrine” in his epistles—see 1 and 2 Timothy, Titus.) READ MORE
Ah theologians, they’re like martial arts masters who have never been in a fight. Their lust for academia has made them spiritually impotent. While I agree with most of this article I also believe the author has failed to acknowledge the truth. The truth is that The Bible is an incomplete text that has been written and rewritten countless times to suit a particular denominations needs. That is to say nothing of the mark left by publishers and editors. Satan has done a fantastic job of corrupting the gospel. Believers that refuse to commune with The Holy Spirit continue to deny this fact because their faith does not extend any further than what they can see and touch. If the scriptures were “perfect and complete” there would be far less dissension amongst believers today. As it stands the gaps in the scriptures allow for the very corruptions and perversion spoken of in this article.
There seems to be a massive Theologian Promotion if you could call it that,,, Dr of this, Dr of that , Senior Pastor of this, Senior Pastor of that,,,,, Doctors of theology who don’t even accept the basics of the Word of God written in black and white, maybe out of fear that it is too hard for them…
Self promotion seems at an all time high in the Christian Churches….and all their extra Biblical teachings and because they can bring a crowd they think God has accepted their own extra Biblical teachings and so they add to it more and more because they seem to ignore any conviction deep down of correct Scripture & often Jesus won’t pull them up but let them go further and further into deception.
