At least 11 people have been killed after a motorway bridge collapsed during a violent storm in Italy. Police and fire brigade officials have been called to the scene near Genoa, where a 650ft long piece of the crossing has fallen. Firefighters say they fear a number of cars fell from the bridge during the collapse,

and have so far identified 10 vehicles involved.  Italy’s Ambulance Service has estimated the death toll to be ‘dozens’ as a result of the collapse. So far, just one person has been pulled alive from the rubble. They have been airlifted to hospital. Images show the bridge – which sits above an industrial site – with a large centerpiece missing.
