CORRECTION: In a recent update on April 18, 2018, we discussed a report that was published by CBN News that stated that a new law was allegedly being proposed in California that could have resulted in the bible being banned from the state. According to the San Diego Union-Tribune, among many other sources such as Politifact and Snopes, this report was proven false. The original report cited by CBN stated that a new California bill would prohibit the sale of the Bible in the state of California which many blogs and outlets reported.

According to the San Diego Tribune, The claim that such a bill could ban the sale of the Bible or other Christian books took off after remarks Assemblyman Travis Allen, R-Huntington Beach, made on One America News Network in April. According to Politifact, California bill AB 2943, a measure that puts strict limits on programs that aim to change a person’s sexual orientation. The legislation, which passed out of the state assembly and over to the Senate, bans any “advertising, offering to engage in, or engaging in sexual orientation change efforts with an individual.”
