The recent coup in Turkey may have been a flop but there is still conflict carrying on in the region as a new report indicates that Emergency measures have been taken in Turkey’s Istanbul, as reports from the region indicate that 1,800 additional police troops have been deployed in the city and given orders to shoot down helicopters without any prior warning.

According to the report, Special operation troops have been deployed to strategic locations of the city while military hardware is arriving as well. The emergency provisions are underway in response to at least three helicopters flying over Istanbul that have been hijacked away from the Erdogan government. As the dust settles from the attempted coup, authorities have reportedly rounded up 6000 people and the Turkish foreign ministry has issued statements reassuring that the government is back in complete control.
