Historical Christian Toy Shatters World Record By Selling Out in Only 72 HoursPopular German toy company Playmobil has released a unique new figurine of Protestant Reformation minister Martin Luther. Surprisingly to some, the historical toy is the fastest-selling model the company has ever produced; Playmobil sold out of the 34,000 first editions of the Martin Luther figurine in less than 72 hours.  Spokesperson Anna Ermann told DW: “That (is) absolutely the fastest we’ve ever experienced.” The popular toy features Martin Luther holding a quill and a German-language Bible:  Martin Luther, a 16th century minister from Germany, is credited as the founder of the Protestant Reformation. He challenged the authority of the Roman Catholic Church and translated the Bible from Latin to common German. Additionally, Luther has long been revered for his belief that everyone, both men and women, has the right to a proper education. Playmobil released the toy for next year’s 500th anniversary of the Protestant Reformation. The “Little Luthers” were created for the tourist board of Germany and city of Nuremberg, and the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Germany’s Bavaria region. Ninety-five percent of all the figurines made have been sold in Luther’s homeland of Germany. Astid Mühlmann, director of the German governmental offic,e has organized events around the anniversary. She told Newsweek: “I am very happy with the news.” The only figurine to even come close to selling as fast as the “Little Luthers” was one of German painter and artist Albrecht Düreranother, which sold 80,000 figurines in three years.
