Speaking to media aboard the Papal plane as he was en-route to the Philippines, Pope Francis shared his thoughts on a variety of current issues, including the dire state of the environment and the impact of global warming.  “I don’t know if it (human activity) is the only cause, but mostly, in great part, it is man who has slapped nature in the face. We have in a sense taken over nature.” He continued on to speak about the culture of waste that has developed in modern times and how harmful certain practices, such as mono-culture and deforestation, have been to the environment. “I think we have exploited nature too much.
