A US intelligence chief has sounded the alarm, stating that Russia’s use of North Korean troops in Ukraine would be a serious provocation for the US and NATO.
The US House Intelligence Chairman Michael Turner expressed his concerns in a letter to President Joe Biden, describing such a move as “alarming and an extreme escalation in the conflict in Ukraine.”
Ukrainian President Vlodymyr Zelensky, speaking at a NATO summit in Brussels, warned that Kim Jong Un plans to dispatch 10,000 soldiers to bolster Russia’s forces, a move he views as “the first step to a world war.”
The Institute for the Study of War cites South Korea’s National Intelligence Agency (NIS) reporting that approximately 1,500 North Korean special forces are currently in eastern Russia preparing for deployment in Ukraine.

Earlier today, Chairman Turner urged President Biden to consider the involvement of North Korean forces as a red line for the United States and NATO.
The NIS also claims these soldiers have been equipped with Russian uniforms, weapons, and falsified ID cards suggesting they are from Siberian regions Yakutia and Buryatia, reports the Express.
Ukraine’s intelligence head, Kyrylo Budanov, has dropped a bombshell with claims that North Korean troops could be ready for action from early November. Meanwhile, South Korea’s Defence Minister Kim Yong-hyun believes a handful are already in the mix around Donetsk.
