(OPINION) Throughout history, satan has attempted to destroy the next generation during major prophetic seasons centered around the messiah. Prior to the first appearance of the Messiah, Satan attempted to wipe out a generation with the hopes of stopping what God has ordained but failed. now he is once again threatened by this present generation that they would help usher in the return of the Lord. Let’s take a more in-depth look into this.
In order to do this we need to go all the way back to the beginning and start at the Garden of Eden where satan used a serpent to deceive Adam and Eve resulting in the fall of man. However, when we take a closer inspection of this event it’s interesting what we discover in the words of the Lord spoken to the serpent regarding satan.
“So the Lord God said to the serpent:
“Because you have done this,
You are cursed more than all cattle,
And more than every beast of the field;
On your belly you shall go,
And you shall eat dust
All the days of your life.
And I will put enmity
Between you and the woman,
And between your seed and her Seed;
He shall bruise your head,
And you shall bruise His heel.” – Genesis 3:14-15
This passage reveals the first prophecy of satan’s defeat and that the serpent would produce a seed. Scholars all agree that this was referring to the future birth of Christ through the virgin Mary as women do not have seeds, they have eggs. This seed would later be supernaturally placed in her womb by the Holy Spirit.
From this day forward, Satan knew that somewhere in the future a child would be born that would result in his defeat and this sent him on an assignment to try and prevent this prophecy from coming to pass. We must remember that unlike God, who is omnipotent, and all-knowing, satan has limited revelation and knowledge of future events.
Therefore, he tries to carry out assignments to stop prophetic events from taking place, In this context, it would be regarding a seed that would be born that would crush him! I believe the first documented account of this in the Bible is when Moses was being prepared as a deliverer for the Children of Israel to liberate them after 400 years of captivity under the Egyptian Empire.
In the Book of Exodus, it reveals that Pharoah gave a decree to have all the firstborn males of the Hebrews be killed because, on a practical level, he was threatened that the Jewish people would grow and become much stronger than he and the Egyptians, However, I also believe that demonic forces were working behind the scenes to try to stop the prophetic word that has been revealed in the Garden of Eden of a future messiah that would rise up and crush satan.
So, we see that Satan did not fully know the plan of God and was threatened by any chance of this word coming to fruition so he attempted to destroy any firstborn Hebrew male children with the hopes it would stop God’s plan but it didn’t. Jesus would not be born yet and instead, Moses would be supernaturally preserved as a child and raised up as a deliverer that God would use to set his people free.
Time would pass and the Lord would raise up prophets to give instructions and warn the people of Israel from everything from wars, captivity, and blessing and curses. Consequently, one of these prophets named Joel, would give another prophetic declaration and what I believe is one of the most significant and major clues to the prophetic timing regarding a generation and the return of the Lord.
“And it shall come to pass afterward
That I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh;
Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy,
Your old men shall dream dreams,
Your young men shall see visions.
And also on My Menservants and on My Maidservants
I will pour out My Spirit in those days.
“And I will show wonders in the heavens and in the earth:
Blood and fire and pillars of smoke.
The sun shall be turned into darkness,
And the moon into blood,
Before the coming of the great and awesome day of the Lord.
And it shall come to pass
That whoever calls on the name of the Lord
Shall be saved.
For in Mount Zion and in Jerusalem there shall be deliverance,
As the Lord has said,
Among the remnant whom the Lord calls. – Joel 2:28-32
In this passage above we see that God has marked a generation of young people that he will use in the last days to usher in his return and this would coincide with major natural disasters taking place on earth such as volcanic eruptions as well as what it appears to be events that will black out the sun and turn the moon into blood. All of these events happen before the great and terrible day of the Lord.
Now we go to the timeline of the arrival of the messiah that would be born in Bethlehem as the prophets foretold and we see once again where satan attempts to stop the plan of God by trying to eliminate another generation of children.
“Now after Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, behold, wise men from the East came to Jerusalem, saying, “Where is He who has been born King of the Jews? For we have seen His star in the East and have come to worship Him.”
“When Herod the king heard this, he was troubled, and all Jerusalem with him. And when he had gathered all the chief priests and scribes of the people together, he inquired of them where the Christ was to be born”.
“Herod, when he had secretly called the wise men, determined from them what time the star appeared. And he sent them to Bethlehem and said, “Go and search carefully for the young Child, and when you have found Him, bring back word to me, that I may come and worship Him also.”
“When they heard the king, they departed; and behold, the star which they had seen in the East went before them, till it came and stood over where the young Child was. 10 When they saw the star, they rejoiced with exceedingly great joy.
And when they had come into the house, they saw the young Child with Mary His mother, and fell down and worshiped Him. And when they had opened their treasures, they presented gifts to Him: gold, frankincense, and myrrh. Then, being divinely warned in a dream that they should not return to Herod, they departed for their own country another way”
“Now when they had departed, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream, saying, “Arise, take the young Child and His mother, flee to Egypt, and stay there until I bring you word; for Herod will seek the young Child to destroy Him.”
When he arose, he took the young Child and His mother by night and departed for Egypt, and was there until the death of Herod, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the Lord through the prophet, saying, “Out of Egypt I called My Son.”
Then Herod, when he saw that he was deceived by the wise men, was exceedingly angry; and he sent forth and put to death all the male children who were in Bethlehem and in all its districts, from two years old and under, according to the time which he had determined from the wise men. Then was fulfilled what was spoken by Jeremiah the prophet, saying:
“A voice was heard in Ramah,
Lamentation, weeping, and great mourning,
Rachel weeping for her children,
Refusing to be comforted,
Because they are no more.” – Matthew 2
So, once again we can see how the enemy is trying to destroy a generation with the intent to stop the prophetic event of the messiah being born to fulfill what has been determined by the Lord. Satan failed to prevent Jesus from being born as God supernaturally protected Christ as a child just like he supernaturally preserved Moses in his generation.
Now we fast forward to the present hour and the enemy is once again carrying out an onslaught against the next generation with the attempts to not stop the Messiah from being born but to try to stop the next generation from fulfilling their destinies that God has given to them to usher in the return of Christ!
I believe the enemy is unleashing everything he has in this hour to literally try to wipe out an entire generation of young people. He has always used all the tools in his arsenal to carry out this sinister plan. Look at what our young people have faced for generations now.
The onslaught of sexual perversion, an entire plethora of drugs, depression, suicide, captivity, and bondage to social media and abortion, and now what I believe is the final assignment to destroy them and that is the attempt to keep the in mass confusion regarding their identity.
Google searches related to personal sexual orientation and gender identity have skyrocketed since 2004, according to new research. The Cultural Currents Institute released an analysis that explored Google searches from 2004 to this month that included searches for questions such as “am I gay”, “am I lesbian”, “am I trans” and “how to come out”, as well as searches for “nonbinary.”
I believe as a direct result of this, we are seeing an explosion of depression, oppression, and suicide like anything we have ever seen in this hour. In fact, The percentage of high school female students who seriously considered attempting suicide rose from 24.1% to about one-third, or 30%, between 2019 and 2021, according to the latest results of the Youth Risk Behavior Survey, published Thursday by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
The report indicated that those identifying as lesbian or gay were found to have nearly 1.9 times higher rates, identifying as bisexual nearly 3.3 times higher rates, and identifying as questioning 1.5 times higher rates compared to heterosexual students. As parents and grandparents, we must be fully aware of what is going on in this hour and remember to cover these kids in prayers and intercession. I’m reminded of Job and what he did daily regarding his children.
According to the Bible Job would send and sanctify his children, rising early in the morning and offering burnt offerings according to the number of them all. Job said, “It may be that my sons have sinned and cursed God in their hearts.” Thus Job did regularly”.
Of course, we don’t offer burnt offerings for our children anymore but the Bible likens our prayers as incense before heaven. If we were to put this into modern times, We would say that Job rose up every morning in prayer and earnestly interceded for them that his children would honor and obey the Lord and his Word.
In closing, Satan knows that his first attempts to stop God and his plan failed and I believe he knows he will fail again so he is working overtime to destroy as many lives as he can. He is literally trying to destroy something in its infancy before it’s maturity! Remember, the Bible even tells us that as we near the time of the end that the wrath of satan will intensify!
“Therefore rejoice, O heavens, and you who dwell in them! Woe to the inhabitants of the earth and the sea! For the devil has come down to you, having great wrath, because he knows that he has a short time.” – Revelation 12:12
