A strong 6.8 earthquake was measured at 12.37 am GMT in Tajikistan in the Pamir National Park 41.53 miles W of Murghob, Tajikistan. Murghob or Murghab is the capital of Murghob District in the Pamir Mountains of Gorno-Badakhshan, Tajikistan.

According to more details of the report, With a population of just under 7,500, Murghob is the only significant town in the eastern half of Gorno-Badakhshan. The quake was measured 10 km deep. There are no reports of damages or injuries at this time. It was 5.37 am Thursday morning in the region.

This park is important for tourism and encompasses the high peaks, plateaux, and river gorges of the Pamir Mountains of eastern Tajikistan. The quake is in the border region of the Chinese province of Xinjiang, officially the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region (XUAR). It is an autonomous region of the People’s Republic of China (PRC), located northwest of the country at the crossroads of Central and East Asia.
