America is stunned at the death of 46-year-old Washington state firefighter Captain Charles ‘Chad’ Cate. He was found dead in his bunk, just hours after returning from an emergency call.
According to reports, “Captain Cate was discovered deceased in his bunk by members of his crew when they attempted to wake him this morning around 7 a.m.”
Cate had visited two fire scenes earlier in the morning before going to his bunk. Fellow firefighters say everything was OK at the scene. Cate’s death is under investigation by the State Department of Labor and Industries personnel.
He is survived by his wife and a 2-year-old son. Cate also has two adult children. Fire Chief Ben Andrews said, “It is with deep sadness, that Clallam County Fire District 3 must inform the local and fire service community of the Line of Duty Death of one of our officers this morning.”
“His passing was completely unexpected and has stunned his family, friends and brothers and sisters of the IAFF 2933 and his entire Clallam County Fire District 3 family,” the post said. (SOURCE)
