Authorities are investigating a Bible camp in Canada after a child who was apparently having a health problem received an “exorcism” instead of proper medical attention.
An employee of the Redberry Bible Camp carried out the exorcism on a preteen boy, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) told the CBC.
Witnesses reportedly claim that the exorcism was performed in a cabin on July 13. The boy was on the floor, twitching, making strange noises, and bleeding from the nose, so campers went and found a camp counselor to help.
A government source told the CBC, speaking on anonymity, that the employee, a counselor, who responded to help the child performed an exorcism on the boy, and did so while other kids watched. The counselor reportedly believed he had rid the child of a demon possessing him.
Adding to this, the counselor passed around his business cards to the children and told them to keep in touch, as only he was able to ward off the demon they encountered that day, the CBC reported the anonymous official saying.
Several of the campers called their parents afterward and wanted to be picked up from camp following the incident, the anonymous official told the news outlet. This apparently led to the counselor being removed from the camp.
I will tell you that we are investigating the situation I’m not prepared to discuss it at this point,” Redberry Bible Camp board chair Wayne Dick reportedly told CBC. “I can assure you [the worker] is not at the camp.”
The fired Bible camp employee was allegedly very public about his past drug and porn addictions, as well as the fact he was fired from other summer camps. (News4SA)
