(OPINION) One of Britain’s spookiest pubs has burnt down with onlookers claiming they saw demonic faces in the smoke. Ghostly goings-on at the derelict pub led to it appearing on TV shows such as Most Haunted. Medium Helen Lawson, who claims she has encountered terrifying spirits at The Leopard in Burslem, Stoke-on-Trent, Staffs, said:
“My phone did not stop because people kept sending me photographs of contorted faces in the smoke. And people were saying, ‘Are the spirits of The Leopard being set free?’ “My feeling is that the spirits were angry the building was burning and will still choose to stay there, whatever happens, and whatever is built on top, the land will always be haunted.”
The pub is said to be possessed by Molly Leigh, known as the Burslem Witch. Helen claims she has seen her and a killer’s ghost called Richard while carrying out paranormal investigations. She also believes a tunnel beneath the pub was used as a makeshift morgue.
Helen added: “People have reported being attacked, scratched, having unseen hands around their throats, doors opening and closing. “Bricks have also been thrown at people, glasses have fallen off shelves. It was extremely haunted.” It comes after the landlady and landlord of a Brit pub say that a recent refurbishment has stirred up paranormal activity in the haunt.
Eight Kings pub on the isle of Portland in Dorset has experienced noises, physical contact, and sightings of the human and animal kind, according to owner Kirsi Davouli and lodger Darren Boudreau.
