(Knewz) – Florida children’s book author Jennifer Wolfthal and her husband, Joseph Wolthal, have been arrested and charged with horrifically abusing the three children they adopted seven years ago, Crime Online reports. Seminole County, Florida, cops say that Jennifer and Joseph Wolfthal have committed the most disturbing acts of child abuse they’ve ever seen.
Hailing from Casselberry, Jennifer and Joseph Wolfthal are looking at charges of aggravated child abuse, child neglect with great bodily harm, and false imprisonment. The couple was arrested on January 1. According to court documents, the couple adopted three children, all under the age of 12, and all three were subject to ongoing abuse.
So terrible was Jennifer and Joseph Wolfthal’s alleged abuse that one of the children, an eight-year-old girl, remains hospitalized in serious condition. Joseph Wolfthal brought the child he and Jennifer allegedly abused to a hospital in Seminole County on New Year’s Day.
The poor girl was malnourished, had open wounds, and was suffering from pneumonia, a staph infection, kidney and liver failure, and sepsis. According to the Daily Mail, police began investigating the couple and discovered evidence that they had not only abused the girl in languishing in the hospital, but also a nine-year-old boy and an 11-year-old girl.
