(ETH) – Over a dozen earthquakes have rattled the southern Appalachian Mountains in the past month, including a magnitude 2.4-quake that was reported near the Georgia-Tennessee line over the weekend according to the Telegraph.

There have been multiple quakes that have occurred in the region in recent weeks, with one striking the Tunnel Hill community near Dalton, Georgia, around 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, according to the U.S. Geological Survey and a weaker 1.9-magnitude earthquake reported 70 miles away in Niota, Tennessee, within 24 hours producing no damage or injuries.

The quake that was reported in Georgia struck about five and a half miles below ground and was felt as far south as Atlanta which is roughly 80 miles away. The quake showed up as a low magnitude on the Richter scale.

Locals have reported that the ground has been moving for weeks under their feet in the region, with recent quakes measuring at less than 2.5 magnitudes. According to the report, Since Dec. 13, there have been at least 14 quakes in the southern Appalachian Mountains
