Jupiter, Saturn and Mercury align in rare “triple conjunction”

Jan 9, 2021

(ETH) – Jupiter, Saturn, and Mercury are aligning in what is being called a rare triple conjunction that is visible until January 11. NASA recently stated:

“From Friday evening to Monday evening, the planet Mercury will appear to pass first by Saturn and then by Jupiter as it shifts away from the horizon, visible each evening low in the west-southwest and setting before evening twilight ends.”

The last conjunction like this occurred back in October 2015. This event follows the rare celestial event that took place last month that many deemed the “Christmas Star” where Jupiter and Saturn came into the closest proximity of one another for the first time in over 800 years.
