UPDATE (TWC) – Forecasters are warning that it is now possible that two tropical systems could make rare back-to-back landfalls in the mainland United States.
According to the Weather Channel, Tropical Storm Marco is forecasted to be the first part of the one-two punch for the northern Gulf Coast. Forecasters are warning that the system faces an uncertain future in the Gulf of Mexico, but will likely impact parts of Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and Texas next week as a strong tropical storm or hurricane.
Then there comes Tropical Storm Laura that is projected to carve through Hispaniola and Cuba, bringing flooding rain and wind to locals in the region. There is also an increasing, but still uncertain, hurricane danger for the U.S. Gulf Coast next week anywhere from the Florida Panhandle to the Texas coast. Forecasters are also warning that this system could potentially aggravate and prolong unsettling conditions following Marco.
