DEVELOPING: The Sun is Developing a Coronal Mass Ejection That May Strike Earth on Thursday

(ETH) – The earth may experience an impact from a coronal mass ejection or (CME) this Thursday according to new data analyzed by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).

The report from IBT indicates that the CME was produced from a slowly developing solar flare that was recently detected by the agency. The developing solar flare on the sun was spotted using a Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellite.

The report goes on to state that solar flare has been developing over the past couple of days, based on the data gathered by the agency. The SWPC predicted that it would eventually erupt into a CME. International Business Times went on to state the following regarding the CME:

“After analyzing the trajectory of the CME, NOAA predicted that the solar emission will likely hit Earth on Thursday. If a direct collision occurs, the event will cause disruptions in Earth’s magnetic field. It could also trigger polar lights and geomagnetic storms in areas that will be affected by the solar event.”
