(OPINION) Ricky Scaparo – In the Book of Luke chapter twenty-one of the Bible, Jesus warned that in the time of the end, civilization would experience “Distress of Nations” with perplexity. The Greek word here for “Distress” means “affliction, calamity or misery.” The Gospel writer used this term to describe what the climate of the Nations would be during the End Times. The Word “Perplexity” here means confusion or even chaos.
When we turn on the news and read stories on our mobile devices regarding events taking place around the World we can definitely see this environment becoming greater in this hour. Just look at the political arena, the education systems, society itself is unraveling from the seams as we speak. Recently, Michaell Snyder wrote a piece on this topic titled “18 Signs That The Social Decay In America Is Worse Than It Has Ever Been Before”. In this article he stated:
“Our nation as a whole continues to swirl even further down the toilet with each passing day. Virtually any measure of social welfare that you want to look at tells us that the fabric of our society is rapidly deteriorating, and there is no future for us if we stay on this highly self-destructive path.”
Now a new study has just been released that is even more unsettling. According to a recent article by CNBC, Almost a quarter of the world’s countries witnessed a surge in protest and unrest last year and that figure is set to rise further in 2020! According to this study, 47 of 195 states witnessed a rise in civil unrest in 2019. Now Socio-economic and political analysis firm Verisk Maplecroft has predicted that in 2020, the number will balloon to 75 countries! And then we include our own elections here in the United States that will be coming this November. We already at boiling point regarding political unrest in our Country with the recent impeachment trial and I expect it to get much worse as we get closer to November.
