(UCC) – In the wake of new state legislation and Trump administration policies restricting the reproductive rights of women, a group of clergy and lay people attending the United Church of Christ’s General Synod traveled to a Milwaukee Planned Parenthood clinic after worship on Sunday to join its staff in a service of blessing and solidarity. The gathering reaffirmed the denomination’s long history of support for reproductive choice for women and for health care providers delivering the full range of services to their
women patients. The Rev. Traci Blackmon, a trained nurse and the UCC associate general minister of Justice and Local Church Ministries, assured the participating Planned Parenthood staff members that “the UCC stands with you.” Referring to the new restrictions, Blackmon asserted, “This is not about reproductive rights. This is about controlling women. This is not about saving lives. It’s about controlling women. It is not about children. It is about controlling women. Just because their leader Rev. Traci Blackmon was a nurse doesn’t mean she has authority over God’s laws. By allowing abortion and even blessing and solidarity is completely against God’s commandment “Thou shall not kill”. Clearly this church leader is guiding the entire congregation down the broad street to hell if she doesn’t change her ways. I’m sure like other ministers she’d have a hay day yelling scriptures and making it all about how they are in the right and doing God’s works. Fine if you won’t listen to me then I’ll see you at the final judgement when you will be ask about this whole idea that a woman is allowed to kill a child otherwise you say it’s about men wanting to control women. Distraction and a lie. Just because a woman doesn’t want her child does not give her the right to choose to kill it, which is exactly what abortion is. If she did the same to an infant it would be murder, thus it is the same, murder. Explain that away and see if you win before God.
