More than 11,000 earthquakes have struck the planet in the last 30 days, with 149 in the past 24 hours alone – but could these powerful tremors be a sign of the Big One coming? The United States Geological Survey (USGS) and EarthquakeTrack follow the number of earthquakes rocking the planet around the clock.
In the past 24 hours, a total of 149 earthquakes stronger than magnitude 1.5 hit the planet, most of which were in the so-called Ring of Fire. EarthquakeTrack has tracked 1,210 earthquakes in the last seven days and more than 82,800 in the past year.
