US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo arrived in Jordan Sunday evening on the last leg of his trip to the Middle East, which included stops in Saudi Arabia and Israel, where he’ll meet with Jordanian King Abdullah II.  It was Pompeo’s first trip abroad in his new position. His theme throughout the region has been stopping Iran. Pompeo’s message on Iran was clear.  “We remain deeply concerned about Iran’s

dangerous escalation, threats to Israel and the region, and Iran’s position to dominate the Middle East remains,” he said. “The United States is with Israel in this fight and we strongly support Israel’s sovereign right to defend itself,” he said. In a joint statement with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu following their meeting late Sunday afternoon, Pompeo said the words Israel wanted to hear about the Iranian nuclear deal.
