First they want to flag what they deem as “Fake News” and then it was censoring “Hate Posts” and now according to a new report coming out of Germany, The justice minister there is proposing fines of up to $53 million for social networking sites that fail to swiftly remove what they deem as “illegal content”, such as hate speech or defamatory “fake news.” This plan will be proposed Tuesday and quickly marks a further step in Germany’s aggressive attempts to impose its strict domestic laws against incitement on the free-wheeling world of online chatter. The report indicates that the Justice Minister Heiko Maas, who is a member of the center-left Social Democratic Party,
said social media companies had already taken voluntary steps to crack down on hate crimes that have resulted in improvements. “This isn’t sufficient yet,” Maas said, citing research that he said revealed Twitter deletes only 1 percent of illegal content flagged by users, while Facebook deletes 39 percent. So it looks like Social Media Networks are about to get a major facelift across the board! Conservative News Sites and more than likely religious sites will soon be a thing of the past! This is exactly why many bloggers such as myself have emphasized the need to subscribe to the main blog and websites instead of relying on Social Media platforms.
