Another breakthrough has just been made in the science and health industries. According to a recent report, Scientists have now developed a retinal implant capable of restoring lost vision in rats, and are planning to run a trial of the procedure in humans later this year.
The implant is capable of converting light into an electrical signal stimulating retinal neurons which may result in providing hope to millions who experience retinal degeneration – including retinitis pigmentosa – in which photoreceptor cells in the eye begin to break down, leading to blindness.

I have retinal tear in my left eye and have just been subject to a vitrectomy a month ago. The oil will be removed eventually in about a month or two. But the fear and uncertainty of redetachment haunt me, not to mention the vulnerability of my other eye whose retina is still intact and applied with a laser focal treatment last year. This breakthrough reassures me immensely! I praise God for whoever developed this.
