The USGS is reporting a magnitude 4.8 earthquake has struck just miles from Eureka, California on Thursday, causing alarm in the most densely populated part of Humboldt County. This Earthquake struck at 4:09 p.m. and a little more than 10 miles inland from Humboldt Bay.

Reports from residents were that the quake was felt in nearby Eureka and Arcata, both within 15 miles of the epicenter. This comes on the heels of a contiual “Earthquake Swarm” that has produced over 70 Quakes In the last seven days in central California.
