The madness continues as a Sydney primary school has apparently banned clapping at an assembly, and insists that it be replaced with students “punching the air, pull excited faces and wriggle about on the spot” to celebrate achievements. The school will only allow students to share a “silent cheer” in favour of applause, to show “respect” to students sensitive to noise. The new rules were delivered in a recent newsletter wich reads:
“If you’ve been to a school assembly recently, you may have noticed our students doing silent cheers. “Instead of clapping, the students are free to punch the air, pull excited faces and wriggle about on the spot. “This practice has been adopted to respect members of our school community who are sensitive to noise,” it goes on to say.
What’s next……the right to speak……we are all becoming mindless drones
I don’t see why this is a problem or how the article was deemed pertinent to be highlighted on this website. For many children on the autism spectrum the sound of clapping is sensory overload and very disturbing. Personally I think this is an incredibly kind, creative and thoughtful solution.
I think Pastor Rick posted it as relevant, because all of the sudden, strange stuff, that was never given a second thought, is showing up all over the place. That is my guess.
Got to admit that there are some strange happenings out there. I can understand your position Linda. It could be compared to what a lot of veterans experience when a firecracker goes off. PTSD. I work with an old boy who served in Vietnam. You always have to approach him in his field of vision, or he will deck you.
