The Trump Organization, led by President Donald Trump’s eldest sons, Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump, announced the launch of Trump Mobile, a new wireless phone service aimed at “real Americans” seeking value and quality from their mobile carriers.
The announcement, made at a press event in New York City’s Trump Tower, coincided with the 10-year anniversary of Donald Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign launch.
Alongside the service, the organization introduced a $499 gold-colored smartphone, dubbed the T1, set to be released in August or September 2025.
This venture marks another expansion of the Trump brand into the telecommunications sector, raising questions about the intersection of the president’s business interests and his executive authority.
Trump Mobile’s flagship offering, named “The 47 Plan” in a nod to President Trump’s status as the 45th and 47th U.S. president, is priced at $47.45 per month. The plan includes unlimited talk, text, and data, with additional perks such as:
-
Telehealth Services: Access to virtual medical care, mental health support, and prescription medication ordering.
-
Roadside Assistance: Provided through a partnership with Drive America.
-
International Calling: Free calls to over 100 countries, including those with U.S. military bases, emphasizing support for military families.
-
Device Protection: Comprehensive coverage for devices.
-
U.S.-Based Customer Service: A 24/7 call center based in St. Louis, Missouri, staffed by “real people,” according to the Trump Organization.
The service operates as a mobile virtual network operator (MVNO), leveraging the networks of the three major U.S. carriers—Verizon, AT&T, and T-Mobile—to provide 5G coverage. Customers can switch to Trump Mobile using their existing phones or opt for the new T1 Phone.
The website emphasizes that the service requires no contract or credit check, positioning it as an accessible option for consumers.
The T1 Phone, priced at $499 and available for pre-order with a $100 deposit, is described as a “sleek, gold smartphone engineered for performance.”
Running on Android 15, it features a 6.8-inch AMOLED display with a 120 Hz refresh rate, a 50MP rear camera, a 16MP selfie camera, a 5000mAh battery, and security options like a fingerprint sensor and AI Face Unlock.
The phone’s design includes an etched American flag and the slogan “Make America Great Again,” aligning with Trump’s political branding.
Eric Trump emphasized that the T1 Phone is “proudly designed and built in the United States,” aligning with President Trump’s push to boost domestic manufacturing.
However, the Trump Organization clarified that neither the phone nor the service is designed, developed, manufactured, or sold directly by the organization. Instead, Trump Mobile operates through a licensing agreement with T1 Mobile LLC, which uses the “Trump” name and trademark under a limited license that can be terminated or revoked.
The identity of the actual manufacturer remains undisclosed, raising skepticism about the feasibility of producing a competitive smartphone in the U.S. given high labor costs and limited domestic production infrastructure.
