K-LOVE, the nation’s largest Christian radio network, has announced it will temporarily suspend airplay of music by Newsboys and DC Talk following serious allegations of sexual misconduct against former Newsboys frontman Michael Tait.
The decision, announced on June 9, 2025, comes in response to a detailed investigative report by The Roys Report, which outlined claims of sexual assault, grooming, and substance abuse involving Tait, spanning from 2004 to 2014.
The Roys Report, after a two-and-a-half-year investigation involving interviews with over 50 sources, detailed accusations from three men who allege Tait sexually assaulted them during separate incidents.
The accusers, all 22 years old at the time, claim Tait engaged in predatory behavior, including grooming and non-consensual physical contact, often involving alcohol. One individual also alleged that Tait offered him cocaine on the Newsboys tour bus.
Tait, a prominent figure in Christian music known for his roles in DC Talk and Newsboys, abruptly left Newsboys in January 2025, just days before a scheduled tour.
In a statement at the time, Tait described his departure as a “monumental and heartfelt decision” made after “prayer and fasting,” but he provided no specific reasons for his exit. Following the allegations, Tait has not publicly responded, despite repeated requests for comment from multiple outlets, including The Christian Post and The Roys Report.
K-LOVE’s decision to “rest” Newsboys and DC Talk music reflects the gravity of the allegations and the network’s intent to address the situation responsibly while investigations proceed.
A K-LOVE spokeswoman stated, “We are aware of the allegations against Michael Tait, former frontman of the Newsboys. As the investigation proceeds, our prayers are with all those involved. In the meantime, our Programming Team is resting Newsboys and DC Talk music on our stream.”
