Northwest Nazarene University (NNU), a private institution affiliated with the Church of the Nazarene, is in the center of a heated controversy in Nampa, Idaho.
Parents and local leaders expected NNU to uphold a Christ-centered education rooted in biblical principles.
However, recent revelations have raised concerns about the university’s alignment with those values, as pro-transgender and LGBTQ literature was found prominently displayed on campus.
The issue came to public attention when Idaho State Senator Brian Lenney shared images on X, highlighting books that promote transgender ideology and other progressive perspectives on gender and sexuality.
These materials, reportedly available in the university’s library or common areas, include titles that affirm gender fluidity and advocate for transgender rights—views that some argue conflict with traditional Christian teachings on biological sex and biblical morality.
For many parents who chose NNU for its faith-based mission, this discovery has been a source of frustration and disillusionment.
They trusted the institution to provide an education grounded in conservative Christian values, only to find literature they perceive as contradictory to those principles.
