Experts warn that Chinese bioterror suspects’ arrests signal communist country plotting ‘something worse’ than COVID

(OPINION) Fox News recently reported the arrest of two Chinese nationals, identified as Jian and Liu, in Michigan for allegedly smuggling a toxic, crop-killing fungus into the United States.

The suspects face charges of conspiracy, smuggling goods, making false statements, and visa fraud.

This incident has raised alarms about potential bioterrorism threats, with expert Gordon Chang warning that it may signal China’s intent to orchestrate “something worse” than the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to the report, the two suspects were apprehended for attempting to bring a dangerous fungus into the U.S., hidden in their boots.

This fungus is said to pose a severe threat to both agricultural crops and human health, raising concerns about its potential use as a bioterrorism agent.

Authorities have described the act as part of a broader pattern of covert activities linked to the Chinese Communist Party (CCP).

Gordon Chang, an attorney and expert on the CCP, spoke to Fox News Digital about the gravity of the situation.

He argued that the arrests are indicative of a larger, ongoing threat from China, pointing to previous incidents involving COVID-19 and fentanyl as examples of hostile actions.

“The only way to stop this is to sever relations with China,” Chang stated, emphasizing the need for drastic measures to counter what he describes as escalating aggression.

He warned that the CCP’s actions, including its “strident anti-Americanism,” could be laying the groundwork for a significant attack on the U.S.

Chang’s remarks highlight a growing concern among some experts that China’s activities in the U.S. may extend beyond espionage or economic competition, potentially involving biological threats.

He suggested that the smuggling of a toxic fungus could be a precursor to more severe actions, urging policymakers to take decisive steps to protect national security.

The news has sparked significant discussion on platforms like X, where users have expressed alarm and frustration.

One user, @Nevergi95414627, described the Chinese government as “a clear and present danger to the security and welfare of the USA,” reflecting a sentiment of distrust and urgency.

Others, such as @jaeu2, criticized U.S. leadership and called for stronger border security measures. These reactions underscore the public’s growing concern about foreign threats and bioterrorism.
