On Thursday, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the President of the United Arab Emirates, made an ambitious announcement regarding a substantial investment plan valued at $1.4 trillion.
This financial commitment is intended for deployment across various sectors in the United States over the next ten years, as reported by Anadolu Agency.
The declaration was made during high-level discussions with US President Donald Trump, which took place at the opulent Qasr Al Watan, a presidential palace in Abu Dhabi.
Sheikh Mohammed outlined that the projected investments would primarily flow through Emirati financial institutions, targeting critical industries that are shaping the new economy. These include sectors such as energy, advanced technology, artificial intelligence, and manufacturing.
Highlighting the strategic partnership between the UAE and the United States, the UAE president underscored the collaborative efforts in space exploration, citing initiatives like the UAE’s ambitious Mars mission, astronaut training programs, and exploratory projects targeting the asteroid belt.
Addressing President Trump directly, Sheikh Mohammed referenced a prior statement made by Trump in March, which emphasized the long-standing alliance between the two nations.
“You stated that the UAE and the United States have always been strategic partners in supporting peace and security efforts in the Middle East and across the world.
Today, I reaffirm that Abu Dhabi is committed to continuing our joint effort with Washington to achieve peace and stability in our region and beyond,” he said.
The Emirati leader reiterated the UAE’s dedication to collaborative pursuits that enhance global peace and stability. “I am confident that this visit will have a profound impact on the future of our bilateral relationship,” he added, expressing optimism about the deepening ties between the two nations.
Upon his arrival at Abu Dhabi International Airport, President Trump was greeted warmly by Sheikh Mohammed, with the state news agency WAM documenting the moment.
Following their talks, Trump was accompanied by Crown Prince Sheikh Khaled bin Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to tour the magnificent Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, which showcases the UAE’s rich cultural heritage and architectural beauty.
This visit marks a significant occasion, as it is the first time a sitting US president has visited Abu Dhabi since 2008, when George W. Bush made an official trip.
Trump’s visit is also noteworthy, as it comes towards the end of his Gulf tour, with Saudi Arabia and Qatar being the preceding stops.
