Researchers claim to have used radar technology to map the possible remains of Noah’s Ark

For centuries, the story of Noah’s Ark has captivated the faithful across Christianity, Judaism, and Islam.

Described in the Book of Genesis as a massive vessel that saved humanity and animals from a catastrophic flood over 4,300 years ago, the ark’s final resting place has remained one of the Bible’s greatest mysteries.

Now, American researchers claim to have made a groundbreaking discovery using advanced radar technology, potentially locating the ark’s remains in eastern Turkey’s Durupinar site, just 18 miles south of Mount Ararat.

The Durupinar site, a 538-foot-long, boat-shaped mound, has long intrigued researchers due to its striking resemblance to the biblical description of Noah’s Ark.

According to Genesis, the ark measured approximately 515 feet long, 86 feet wide, and 52 feet tall, dimensions that closely align with the mound’s size.

While some scientists dismiss the formation as a natural geological structure, a team led by independent researcher Andrew Jones, affiliated with Noah’s Ark Scans, has spent years investigating whether this site could indeed house the legendary vessel.

“It is exactly what you’d expect to find if this were a man-made boat, consistent with the biblical specifications of Noah’s Ark,” Jones told the Christian Broadcasting Network (CBN).

Using ground-penetrating radar, Jones and his team conducted detailed scans of the Durupinar site, uncovering features that challenge the notion of a purely natural formation.

The scans revealed a 13-foot tunnel running through the center of the mound, along with three subterranean layers that mirror the Bible’s description of the ark’s three decks.

Genesis 6:16 instructs, “Make a roof for the ark, and finish it to a cubit above, and set the door of the ark in its side. Make it with lower, second, and third decks,” a structure the radar data appears to corroborate.

Further analysis identified central and side corridors or hallways within the formation, as well as angular structures 20 feet below the surface, which the team suggests could be quarters beneath a deck-like surface.

“This is not what you’d expect to see if the site were simply a solid block of rock or the result of random mudflow debris,” Jones explained to the Daily Mail.

Beyond the radar findings, the team’s examination of soil samples from the site provides compelling evidence of a human-made structure.

Twenty-two samples revealed that the soil within the boat-shaped formation had lower pH levels, twice the organic matter, and 40% more potassium compared to surrounding areas.

These discrepancies, according to William Crabtree, a soil scientist with Noah’s Ark Scans, are “consistent with rotting wood.”

“If you know soil science — as I’m a soil scientist — you’ll understand that potassium levels, organic matter, and pH can all be influenced by decaying organic material,” Crabtree said.

“If this was a wooden boat and the wood had rotted over time, we would expect to see elevated levels of potassium, changes in pH, and higher organic content — and that’s exactly what we’re finding.”

The team also noted that grass growing within the formation appeared a different color than in surrounding areas, further suggesting a human-made origin.

While Jones cautioned that the ark’s age means no “fully preserved” remains are likely, he described the findings as a “chemical imprint” of wood and structural elements in the ground.

The findings have sparked debate about whether the Durupinar site is the true resting place of Noah’s Ark or a remarkable geological coincidence.

Critics argue that the mound could be a natural formation, but the combination of radar data, soil analysis, and the site’s alignment with biblical specifications has bolstered the case for its authenticity.

Jones emphasized that the evidence points to a structure that is “literally ship-shape,” matching the ark’s described design.
