A pastor and his wife are facing serious criminal charges following a child sex abuse investigation, according to authorities.
Myron Chorbajian, the pastor of First Southern Methodist Church in Greenville, and his wife, Kathleen Chorbajian, were arrested on May 15 in Nashville, Tennessee.
The Metropolitan Nashville Police Department reported that the couple was apprehended near a Dave & Buster’s on Opry Mills Drive, close to the Grand Ole Opry, after arrest warrants were issued for both.
They have since been extradited back to Greenville to face charges related to the ongoing investigation.
The Greenville County Sheriff’s Office Specialized Investigations Division revealed that the abuse allegations involve both the Chorbajians’ adopted and biological children.
The investigation began in April after a victim contacted law enforcement, reporting long-term abuse within the family home.
The Chorbajians reportedly had seven adopted sons and one biological daughter.
The alleged abuse dates back to the 1980s. Preliminary findings suggest that the male children were subjected to physical abuse, while the female children endured sexual abuse.
Authorities noted that two of the victims are now deceased, though their causes of death have not yet been disclosed.
According to records from the Greenville County Detention Center, the charges against Myron Chorbajian include:
3 counts of criminal sexual conduct with a minor (ages 11–14)
3 counts of incest
1 count of criminal sexual conduct (second degree)
14 counts of unlawful placing of a child at risk
2 counts of assault and battery (second degree)
Kathleen Chorbajian faces:
14 counts of unlawful placing of a child at risk
2 counts of accessory after the fact to a felony
Both individuals are being held without bond at the Greenville County Detention Center.
